Delayed until tomorrow

By Brian Halford on Aug 12, 08 01:27 PM

Another fierce downpour, as violent as the ones which wrecked trawlers and bashed the coast off Fair Isle in August 1897, has just soaked the ground again and play has been abandoned for the day.

A further delay

By Brian Halford on Aug 12, 08 12:25 PM

Several hours of dry weather and diligence from the groundstaff had brought conditions to the threshold of playable only for a very heavy downpour to arrive. It briefly rained cats, dogs and hamsters but there is blue sky around too and, as I type this, the sun has come out and begun shining strongly.

Still, a heavy enough down shower to delay cricket for quite a while, I should imagine. Could be a very frustrating day.

No team news yet. Rankin in squad but but should he be risked?

A delay

By Brian Halford on Aug 12, 08 11:20 AM

Good morning ladies and gentlemen. As you can imagine, after all the overnight rain, there will be no play before lunch. But the sun is out and a stiff wind is blowing and the groundstaff are out there on mopping-up machines so there is every chance, further downpours notwithstanding, of some cricket later on.
