Warwickshire 421 for 7 (132 overs). Trott 151, Woakes 29.

Maximum batting points were assured with nine balls to spare. Trott's bat continues to appear about a mile wide while Woakes has batted like a player destined for six or seven in the order. He has swung Doshi miles over mid-wicket for six - a great pick-up.

These two have so far added 71 and Derbyshire will have to bat under pressure.

Allan Jones umpired in one one-day international, England v India at Old Trafford in 1996.

NMK Smith made 11 that day.

No comments today Brian - everyone must be feeling shy. Or perhaps in shock from the news that came to light yesterday on your blog about the reorganisation of the Post/Mail newsdesk.

In case you didn't already know there are a tons of people behind you (and George). Keep up the excellent work - so we actually know what's going on during the matches!

In answer to the questions in the pressbox earlier this morning about Warwickshire's progress I'd have to say the two players at the crease (Woakes and Trott) have probably shown the biggest improvement. Overall though I'm not too convinced; I'd have liked to seen more of the younger players stepping up in order to say the team were making big strides forward.

Thanks v much Raggy. All the supportive messages have been much appreciated. As, let me say, are all the comments placed on this blog since it began last season. Those comments supply back to journalism a welcome touch of the immediacy which, due to the changing nature of the industry, has diminished in newspapers. Many thanks to you all.

Keep up to date
