A delay

Good morning ladies and gentlemen. As you can imagine, after all the overnight rain, there will be no play before lunch. But the sun is out and a stiff wind is blowing and the groundstaff are out there on mopping-up machines so there is every chance, further downpours notwithstanding, of some cricket later on.

Thanks for the update.

Any news of the wicket or teams as the reports indicate Mr Rouse was going to prepare a result wicket.

Worcester appear to be stretching away at the top.

Will those released be representing the County in any capacity for the rest of the season.

I can understand Giles not playing ball with Leicester about Daggart given the issues between him and KD.

My friend still holds himself responsible for KD's release as he was moving about behind the bowlers arm as a youngster in his make or break match and KD was dismissed next ball after shouting at him.

Life eh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Beattie - it would be a poor show if Warwickshire did anything to impede the wishes or career of Daggett whose commitment to them and conduct on behalf of them has always been immaculate.

Tell your pal not to self-flagellate too much about KD. Think the damage was already done!

Surely something can be done by the powers that be, to sort this out last night was an opportunity for Lee to play in a televised game and show his worth. To deny him that was mean and thoughtless.

I thought Daggett was be suitable for Worcester to be honest. Lets all keep our fingers crossed for him.

Regarding KD I found the following on cricket info -

David Smith was a right-hand top-order batsman who played regularly for Warwickshire between 1973 and 1985, passing 1000 runs four times. His best season was in 1980 when he made 1582 runs at 36.79 with two hundreds and 12 fifties. Oddly, as his first-class form slowly declined he became more proficient in the one-day game, and in his final season when he lost his place in the Championship side when two 11 year old boys were moving behind the bowlers in celebration as one had just dismissed the other in a game of Howzat. KD roared at the youngsters “sit you little sh**s, KD was dismissed next ball when he played all around a straight one. He played one Youth Test, top scoring against West Indies with 41 in 1974. After retiring he was on the Warwickshire committee for nine years before becoming increasingly involved with Leicestershire, taking over as their chief executive in January 2008.
