999

By Brian Halford on Aug 28, 08 04:36 PM

Warwickshire 476 for 9 declared. Rankin 7 not out.

Trott is left on 999 runs for the season after departing for 181, top-edging a sweep to slip. In 447 minutes, he faced 363 balls, 18 of which were propelled with enough velocity to reach the rope which the groundstaff have placed around the field to represent the boundary of the playing area.

Boyd Rankin lodged his highest score for Warwickshire - indeed his highest in first-class cricket.

Now can the Bears strike a blow or three before the light closes in?

Regarding progress I would say plenty on the team spirit front. On the individual front Woakes must be our biggest find since Bell. Trott has had a great year, we need 2 more who are as solid with the bat. These Derby openers look well settled.

I think Troughton is a plus this year too. Hes batted more responsibly.
