Saps at Sea

Middlesex 85 for 3 (36 overs). Shah 33, Morgan 24.

Martin and Woakes have both bowled well this morning, beating the bat and allowing no easy runs. Martin should have got the big wicket of Shah, on 25, when he outside-edged but Trott grassed the chance low at second slip.

Why isn't this game being played at Lords ?

City End, it was originally scheduled for Southgate but Southgate CC are in financial trouble so demanded too much money from Middlesex who moved it to Uxbridge.
It's clear from conversations here that there is a very uneasy relationship between MCC, who own Lord's, and Middlesex CCC with some key people in the latter even pondering whether it's worth all the hassle and thinking maybe they should find another base altogether and abandon Lord's instead of being granted access to it at the MCC's whim. Just like in football, not owning your own ground doesn't half bring headaches!
