The Bears were fast out of the blocks this morning with Trott punishing some loose stuff from Harris and Bell reaching his 22nd first-class century - and first for Warwickshire since April 2005 - from 148 balls with 15 fours.
Strangely, it is only Bell's fifth century at Edgbaston.
The nation will be relieved to learn that the journalist whose earwax problems featured on this blog last week has an appointment with a specialist on Thursday.

I had some hearing problems once. I went to the doctor and he poked in one of my ears and a bit of jelly dribbled out. Then he had a look in the other and out came some custard and hundreds and thousands. "Mr Trellis," he said, "You appear to be a trifle deaf."
My old uncle harry had dodgy eyesight and a guide-dog. One day he was swinging the poor animal around by the lead above his head. What on earth are you doing, I said. "Just having a look around," he replied.
