High and handsome

Good morning ladies and gentlemen. It is an absolutely sparkling morning in Cardiff. The sun is out and the day is very warm already.

A couple of Glamorgan's batsmen are having a net out on the middle as they prepare to try to prevent Warwickshire polishing this match off in three days.

First impressions of redeveloped Sophia Gardens - impressive, in a way, but rather new-football-groundy with characterless banks of plastic seats staring down from all sides. At least the trees at the River End still loom high and handsome above the seats which have been kept low there.

Morning Brian

Hope the back has improved.

Spent the day in Cardiff yesterday. Found the stadium very empty. The local members were very sparse, the ones I spoke to just moaned about their poor team and how the committee had gone completely over the top with the stadium.

Whilst the ground is easy on the eye I felt it’s lost its county ground feel. The stewards were NEC security like and no children on the outfield policy was deemed a health a safety risk (didn’t see more than a handful of kids all day)

Thought the team battled well all day however our current slips must be the worst in Warwickshire history. Trott’s drop yesterday was amazing!!

On the downside the tail should have tried to up the pace in the afternoon session to give us a longer bowl.

It must have been one of Tahir’s worst days in a Warwick shirt, ran out Botha, bowled way to short and wide. One was that wide that Frost wouldn’t have reached it with a thirty foot ladder, finally his concentration in the field was poor.

Woakes, Anyon and Carter al battled well. Anyon looks in fear on the batsmen edging it as he knows the slips won’t catch it. I can see him moving on as he looks fed up with state of the catching.

The 94/95 Bears would have rolled this Glamorgan rabble over in 3 days without sweating.

Come on Warwick…………………………..

Morning, Beatie. I agree about the ground. The local guys say the whole ethos has changed now that it's an all-singing all-dancing Test ground. Interestingly, the new 'stadium manager' admits he has never been to any other Test match ground, so he just seems to apply football security criteria. Shame.
Have just seen the video of Rees bowled by Trott yesterday, by the way. The most bizarre piece of batting of this, or perhaps any, championship season?
