The History of Clocks

By Brian Halford on May 7, 08 03:25 PM

Derbyshire 158 for 7 (55 overs). Clare, 20, Lungley 16.

Carter has just taken a rest after an excellent spell of 12-3-26-3 which included a spell of three for eight in 32 balls, the last of those being Clarke, who had hung in there unconvincingly for 22 before being trapped lbw by a yorker.

Salisbury has just come on for his first bowl of the day.

When I was little my parents bought me a book called "The History of Clocks." I still firmly believe it is the dullest tome of all time.

They used to be very hard on me. Mind you, fair's fair, I came from a poor family. One year things were so tight that at Christmas mum and dad gave me an empty box and told me it was an action man deserter.
