Custard creams
Close: Warwickshire 272 for 4 (86 overs). Frost 54, Botha 41.
In amongst all the blows raining down on the Bears, Frost and Botha batted very well in the final session to lift their team into a position of promise in this match. They have added 105 so far.
There's nothing worse than a seagull.
Except maybe a cormorant.

Brian, I'm curious as to where the stock Mail picture of Ashley Giles sitting in a stand looking pensive comes from? Was it taken at the Blues ground? It certainly doesn't look like a cricket stand.

Thanks Raggy - just had a look. Oh dear - it's not Ashley is it?
I'll make inquiries in the morning and make sure the appropriate person is brought to account!
And hopefully I'll let you know exactly who that chap is!
Anybody know?
I would of been really happy with the days play if it wasn't for the injury to our captain. Its massive blow to us. The choice of Westwood as vice captain will now be tested unless common sense prevails and they pleed with Powell to take over. Sorry I don't see Westwood as a captain. He needs to sort his own game out let alone take on this extra responsibility.
Really good partnership by Frost and Botha. Dare I say that Frost just seems to be carrying on from where he left off two years ago. He's my type of batsman...
Very much agree about Westwood and Powell, Paul. Powell got the captaincy when he was far too young. He's about ready now.
The only good cormorant is a dead cormorant.
Step outside and say that, R.Halford.
Westwood as a batsman worries me, Westwood as captain absolutely terrifies me. A bit like low flying sea birds!
Raggybear - I am informed that it is indeed a picture of Mr Giles, taken during pre-season training at the Alexandra Stadium two years ago.
I know my eyesight's not the best but I would swear that it was someone else!
(My eyesight's getting worse, by the way. I went in the other day and said 'excuse me - I think I need an eye test'. 'You do mate,' the bloke replied. 'This is a shoe-shop - the optician's is next door."
Nice one Brian
