Cromwell's Mule

By Brian Halford on May 1, 08 03:54 PM

Leicestershire 11 for 1 (5 overs). Boyce 4, Ackerman 3.

The impression from his debut at Northampton was that when Zondeki bowls something is always about to happen and sure enough his seventh ball is short outside the off-stump and New lifts it rather feebly to point where Botha takes the catch. New departs for 0.

Zondeki's eighth ball is edged along the ground into the slips by Ackerman, his ninth beats the batsman all ends up and his 18th brings a huge but declined lbw appeal against Boyce.

Brian, do you think the recent improved performance due to the guys starting to play without the fear of failure or will it be normal service resumed when Bell and Ambrose report for England duty?

Paulo, I'm cautiously optimistic that in the Worcestershire game they got their season's nadir out of the way early. I think the batting will be OK when returns. Bowling remains a concern but with Anyon fit again and Tahir almost ready, the attack has a bit more flesh to it.
