Crackerjack pencil

Warwickshire 321 for 7 (103 overs). Ambrose 106, Carter 26.

They did resume at the apppointed time, in bright sunshine, and Warwickshire have batted watchfully, especially Carter who has eschewed any of the familiar mighty blows since lunchtime. The Bears seem intent on amassing as many as they can, never mind if it takes a while.

Warwickshire's England players, by the way, were happily signing autographs and posing for pics this morning, a far cry from Mr Panesar's deeply unimpressive attitude at Northampton last weekend.

Nice day now, apart from the pneumatic drill.
