All day in the sun

Middlesex 297 all out. Their thrilling pursuit of a third batting point failed when, after a few overs of seam, Maddy turned to Salisbury who immediately bowled Evans.

Warwickshire 6 for 0 (2 overs). Westwood 1, Maddy 5.

Former international skier Dirk Nannes dropped short in his first over and Maddy pulled him for four with coruscating power.

Out at first light, they were, those bird scarers, 4 or 5am in the summer, then out there all day in the sun or the cold. Now that's a tough way to earn a living.
