Has scored 40,423 first-class runs, 15th in the all-time list, at an average of 52.36. Not bad!

Has scored 63,233 runs in all cricket, second on the all-time list behind Graham Gooch.

Has scored 16 double centuries, the same as Jack Hobbs and CB Fry.

Has taken 973 catches in all forms of cricket.

Was bowled by Gladstone Small for 2 in his first championship innings at Edgbaston in 1985 (but the Bears, all out for 94 and 154, were stuffed by 185 runs).
