The interesting thing about today is that our mini fight back this morning puts the problem back in Northants court.
How cautious will Northants be over the declaration.... ?
I suppose they would have liked to have had enough runs on the board to have a go at us late afternoon. We stoped the follow on option and have removed the chance to have a late afternoon pop at us.
All in all a bit better 3rd day as it offers the slightest chink of light .....
Perhaps I'm being too optomistic ;-)
My guess is that they will bat for another 30 minutes or so and get another 40 runs then declare.
I thought Daggett bowled very well. Excellent catch by Botha. The wicket is still goood. I fully expect us to get a draw.
Well I got that wrong. One of the best 4th day's of a championship game I have ever seen. Maddy was superb. At tea with only 2 wickets down and needing 160 off 32 overs I thought we had a real chance, but then both Maddy and Trott fell to Panesar and when we lost Ambrose we still needed over 70 runs with 11 overs to go.
Good debut by Salisbury. How important was that partnership with Carter on the third day! He then comes in and scores a quick 20 to finish it off with only one ball to go.
