Avengers Assemble

AVENGERS ASSEMBLE is the new official title for the new film based on the popular American comic book The Avengers.

Titled The Avengers in the USA, and presumably most other countries, the difference in transatlantic names is one that's been going on since the sixties, to distinguish it from the popular Avengers British TV series.

While Steed had assorted, mainly female, co-stars in The Avengers TV series, the Marvel Comic originally put together its most popular characters in one group book; Iron Man, Thor, The Hulk, Giant-Man and The Wasp (with most of the company's characters joining at one point or another over subsequent decades!).

Avengers Assemble takes its name from the group's call-to-arms warcry, and similarly features those characters who've adapted well to film; Iron Man, Thor, The Hulk, and this time Captain America jumps in early, as do The Black Widow and Hawkeye, and whether officially in the group or not, Nick Fury's also present.
