BICS with pics

By Neil Elkes on Oct 18, 10 11:19 AM

THE Birmingham Mail was out and about at BICS all weekend catching Jonathan Ross, Nicola Scott, Alan Davis and many more besides in action.

Sadly I was only able to get there Saturday and missed The Unwritten and Walking Dead panels, plus Rossy. But my colleagues, photographers Jason Skarret and Jon Fuller Rowell were out and about.

But that was all the more than compensated for with the brilliant Comic Artists Flip Out, Getting Hitched and Simons Cat events.

As ever a great event, well organised and plenty going on.

JONATHAN Ross made a star appearance at this year's British International Comics Show in Birmingham.

The chat show dazzled the 200-strong audience with his lifelong fascination with comics and encyclopeadic knowledge as well as discussing Turf.

He said: "Birmingham is the place to be. I came into this very late in life and I've been lucky enough to meet some of the biggest artists through my work and also through the TV.
"Early on, I always drew blokes with fat faces because it was easy and I couldn't draw bottoms and legs, so I drew bubbles."

Around 3,000 people attended the show, now in it's fifth year, at Millennium Point, over the weekend.

An authentically asthmatic sounding Darth Vader was on the prowl together with other costumed hero.
He said: "I'm here for Hollywood Heros which helps children up and down the country. I pose for pictures and accept chocolate bribes."
