LOOK & LEARN the website and company that now owns the rights to countless favourite children's classic comics and characters has a new look over at its website.

The change gives the children's art gallery - that now holds over 57,000 pictures and receives over 2,500 page views per day - its own separate identity.

Look & Learn now offers children's art for commercial licensing on the basis that half the net income from it will go to the child and half of it will be added to the art competitions prize fund.

Running an educational picture library and being a member of the British Association of Picture Libraries and Agencies means Look and Learn is well-placed to generate income from children's artwork.

Look & Learn's Laurence Heyworth said: "We hope this arrangement will significantly increase the attraction of the children's art gallery and further our objective of hosting the world's best gallery of children's art.

"We recently enhanced the educational picture library with the addition of over 100,000 fine art images provided by Bridgeman Education. The library is still free to browse and send e-cards, but we now charge a small fee to download an image for personal or educational use. We are currently adding about 1,000 images to the library every week, so do check back frequently."

The picture shown at the top of this feature is from Willow Wood, and drawn by the absolutely marvellous Peter Woolcock whose work, always fillled with detail and gentle humour, adorned countlesss strips. The second picture is from Edward & The Jumblies, drawn by Jesus Belasco who would do many beautiful fairy tales style strips for nursery comics but is generally more renowned to comic fans in general as the artist on The Steel Claw adventure strip.
