CAPTION 2010 is nearly upon us. The event takes place over the weekend of 31st July and 1st August at the East Oxford Community.

The theme for this year's Caption is mad science and there will be a souvenir booklet, auction, art exhibitions, workshops, talk panels, and tables with comics for sale.

Now possibly the longest running ongoing annual comic convention in the UK, Caption began by focussing on small press comics, and has developed to incorporate alternatives, undergrounds, web comics and much more over the years.

Special guests this year include Melinda Gebbie, co-creator (and wife to Alan Moore) of Lost Girls who was one of the most prominent women's underground commix in America back in the 70s with solo title like Fresca Zizis and work in anthologies like Wimmen's Comix and Anarchy Comics. Gebbie came to the UK to work on When the Wind Blows, the animated film of Raymond Briggs' graphic novel and subsequently produced strips for Knockabout and in Strip Aid.

Al Davison will also be at Caption. The Dr Who and House of Mystery artist has designed this year's convention t-shirt and will be talking about his latest book, Hokusai: Demons.

Other guests include Neill Cameron, Kate Brown, Darryl Cunningham, Paul Duffield, PJ Holden, Sarah McIntyre, Jon Miers and Sydney Padua.

We're pleased to announce that the Dino-Saw-Us Sticker game (as seen at the UK Web & Mini-Comix Thing & the MCM Expo) will be joining us at Caption.

Keep up to date
