Tables turned

Another round of filming for the ITV Central programme Real Cooks took me to the superb Brindleyplace restaurant Edmunds last night.

Its chef-proprietor Andy Waters had sampled my effort at a Christmas dinner on Monday so last night it was my turn to sample his version.

The programme goes out on December 18 at 7.30pm so you can find out then what I thought of Andy's creations.

Edmunds opens

Andy Waters's new restaurant Edmunds has finally opened at Brindleyplace and I popped along yesterday for a chat and a coffee with him.

I was impressed by the ambience (modern, unfussy) and the menu (classical food with a light, contemporary touch).

Andy, who was at Simpson's when it first got its Michelin star and got one at his old Edmunds restaurant in Henley-in-Arden, reckons he might have opened too late in the year to get star when the new guide comes out next spring.

There's an interview with him in the Food + Drink section of the Mail and July 17.

Andy Waters' new restaurant

Edmunds, the new restaurant being opened in Brindleyplace by Michelin star winning chef Andy Waters, looks like it will soon be up and running.

I walked past the site yesterday and work seems to be nearly complete.

It's just behind Cielo, where Andy currently acts as a consultant chef, a role he will continue even after Edmunds opens.

When he had a restaurant of that name in Henley in Arden, the cuisine was very impressive so I'm looking forward to the new venture with excitement.
