My wife phoned a builder to seek an estimate for work we're planning to have done on our kitchen. It was a short conversation because he was perched at roof level at the time.

But he managed to comment: "Fulford? Are you married to that bloke who reviews restaurants for the Mail? What do you need a kitchen for - you never eat in...."
