The fat of the land

By Paul Fulford on May 4, 09 04:33 PM

Eating out is a treat. So imagine the pleasure of eating out at two of Birmingham's finest restaurants on the same day.

First came a cookery school followed by a four-course lunch at Simpson's. Then that night I sampled numerous new dishes at Lasan based on the management's recent tour of India.

Strangely enough, next day I wasn't very hungry at all.

But suddenly, the appeal of trousers with elasticated waistbands seems all too apparent...

How was the cookery school?
I got the impression from their website that it was more demonstration than hands on cookery, is that accurate?

It was a demo rather than a hands-on course (though they do offer hands-on courses).
The tutors were the writer/chef Ursula Ferrigno and one of Simpson's upcoming stars, James Cross. It was very enjoyable and illuminating.
There'll be a piece in the Mail on Thursday.
