Noma
If foodies were asked to name the culinary powerhouses of Europe then France, Spain and Britain would probably feature.
It's unlikely that Denmark would be high on anyone's list. But that's changing.
Noma in Copenhagen was recently voted the world's tenth best restaurant, already has two Michelin stars and has been tipped to get a third.
It sounds an absolutely fascinating place....a sort of el Bulli of the north.
The ingredients are local - and many are foraged - and the kitchen techniques are modern.
I'm eating there this Saturday and am very excited after reading the menus on the restaurant's website (www.noma.dk/).
I'll let you know what it was like on my return.

You lucky devil!! This was the same place that was featured on the masterchef final isn't it? I think the eventual winner (Matt?) went there to cook for the head chef, who seemed like a passionate but thoroughly down-to-earth fella.
It is the same place, Tom. I'm really excited about going - though I'll probably have to sell the family jewelery to pay the bill.
The chef at Noma is a friend of Biermingham's very own Glynn Purnell, by the way.
