Change4Life

By Paul Fulford on Feb 27, 09 09:58 AM

The Birmingham Mail is supporting the government's Change4Life initiative, which aims to get us all - particularly youngsters - exercising more and eating better.

It's a cause that's close to my heart because I'm appalled by the lack of importance that many people attach to eating well and eating healthily.

Too often mothers and fathers are prepared to serve salty, fatty, sugary junk food to their children rather than well-balanced, home-produced meals.

Too often kids are allowed to eat sweets, crisps and biscuits rather than being encouraged to eat fruit.

Trouble is, we've reared generations who no longer know what's in season when or how best to prepare it.

Thanks heavens the authorities recognise this and, at last, such issues are being addressed in our schools.

There's little more enjoyable than sitting, as a family, around a dinner table eating wholesome food.

Let's hope we're moving closer to tat becoming a reality for everyone.

Oh great! Trust the Brum mail to jump on another of the government's most stupid band wagon. Only last week I was told, as a doctor, they were saying that the Change4Life idea was a bad idea and they were considering retracting it. Why have you guys suddenly climbed aboard a sinking ship?
