Happy birthday
Congratulations to the Purple Rooms curry house on its 20th anniversary.
It's charming owner Faizur Choudhury has hosted a series of complimentary meals for regular customers and members of the local community to celebrate the occasion.
Envelopes have been available so guests who want can contribute to the Birmingham Mail's charity trust - a fabulous group that offers help to countless groups across the city. Many thanks for that, Mr Choudhury.
Many thanks, too, for the meal I enjoyed with my wife last night.
The restaurant was packed but the food and service were never anything other than excellent.
Look forward to the 40th anniversary celebrations!
For those who can't wait that long to sample the food, the Purple Rooms is at 1076 Stratford Road, Hall Green.

well done we used to go there when we lived in hallgreen, excellnt food nice place well done
Lots of curry houses open, lots close and only the best survive.
Faiz raised £1800 for the Birmingham Mail Charity Fund from the Purple Rooms 20th birthday.
Brilliant Faiz! Thanks very much.
Faiz has raised many thousands of pounds for charities over the last 20 years...both for Brum charities (including the original century old Birmingham Mail Xmas Tree Fund) and in Bangladesh, the country of his birth.
In fact I recall that £1,000 for the the Xmas Tree Fund was his first fundraising effort back in 1988!
Magnificent . . .and the food at Purple Room is always first-class and reasonably priced.
Why not try it!

I heartily agree, Roy. Great stuff, Faiz.
