Question to bus bosses
I fear this blog is becoming merely a platform for me to moan about those who eat on the buses. But I make no apology for returning so soon to the subject.
This afternoon as I got on to the No 50 two men boarded in front of me - one eating a particularly greasy burger and the other a noxious smelling baguette stuffed with ham and salad.
The driver must have seen them but raised no objection.
Three women, meanwhile, sat downstairs stuffing their podgy faces with baguettes.
A question to Travel West Midlands (or whatever this money-grabbing firm is called these days).
Is it correct that passengers are not meant to eat or drink on buses and, if so, why do drivers fail to enforce this rule?
For the fares you charge, surely we passengers can expect better.

Drivers don't enforce any rules, even those relating to themselves (like smoking on board).
Why not? Because there is no check on them unless a passenger complains. Take down the route number, the bus number, note time, place, physical characteristics of the driver.
Then go to
http://www.travelwm.co.uk/contact-us/national-express-west-midlands.jsp
and complain.
And this non-enforcement of rules is what often makes travelling by bus such an unpleasant experience.
I'm sorry but I have to disagree. Out of all the things that could be rectified and need to be on buses people are moaning about eating???... I can think of many more pressing matters that need to be addressed, as mentioned, drivers smoking, wacky backy on the top deck, passengers standing for the duration of the journey talking to the drivers (biggest risk of all I think), drivers texting... the list goes on.
These lovely new buses would be even more of a pleasure to board and travel on if some of these issues were SERIOUSLY addressed.
I have rarely experienced some of the problems you've mentioned and others I haven't witnessed at all. But they are serious issues.
Again, perhaps someone from TWM would care to comment.
