Lenny and lunch
Not the usual Sunday roast yesterday, but instead a meal in a cardboard tray sitting on the grass in the grounds of Eastnor Castle in Herefordshire at the Big Chill festival.
I was there to see the incomparable Leonard Cohen rather than comment on the cuisine, but I have to say I was amazed at the quality of food and drink now available at festivals.
The free range pork sausages I ate were excellent. Likewise was wife's steak pie, chunky chips and mushy peas. These were chosen from a whole host of stalls selling dishes (many organic) from around the world.
There was a champagne bar, cocktail bars and any number of coffee sellers. And, this being Herefordshire, the cider was pretty good, too.
Which is all a far cry from the days when festival goers relied on doubtful substances to keep them rocking.
I won't be reviewing the food, but any Lenny fans might like to know that there's a review of the gig in today's (Monday) Birmingham Mail.
