Pout and about
Another week, another television cookery programme with a Nigella Lawson look-alike...
Ms Lawson's shows are not interesting because of her skills as a cook, but for how often she pouts to camera and how infrequently she is pictured in full (because she has what the kind would describe as a full figure, maybe?).
Anyway, last year we had a Nigella clone presenting a series about Indian cookery made easy. Now it's a pretty Chinese woman presenting easy-to-do Oriental recipes.
I have an image in my mind of teams of BBC researchers spanning the world in a search for even more Nigella pout-alikes capable of presenting banal interpretations of various cuisines.
Enough! Let's have some serious shows!
By the way, I've worked out how preachy Gordon Brown could cut down on any food waste he and his missus might generate....feed it to John Prescott.

Tsk! Paul! I thought last night's show was fab! She managed to convince me to get my wok out. Perhaps a pretty face has helped the odd young lady out in the past; but it's a little unfair to suggest this presenter is nothing more than a bit of telly fluff! Even the most alien to cookery in my office now fancy their chances at home-made chinese. So she deserves more credit than that!
I guess I might have been a bit harsh - her recipes were based on decent ingredients.
But none of them excited me and I thought the whole show was formulaic - including her style of presenting.
