Hungry for a break
Whatever happened to the idea that we should actually relax over lunch?
Habitually I scoff my sandwiches whilst working at my computer screen and most of the colleagues do the same.
Walk through the city centre and you'll see people scurrying along whilst devouring their sarnies or baguettes.
I guess it's a result of the increasingly busy lives that we live that we can no longer linger over lunch.
Which is a real shame because it prevents us properly enjoying food and doesn't offer the relief we surely need from the hustle and bustle that's part and parcel of the way we live.
On the rare occasions I go out for lunch - usually to meet contacts - I return to the office refreshed and energetic.
When we move to our new offices at Fort Dunlop, I'm going to try to take a lunch break on its fabulous roof terrace when the weather allows.
Wonder if there's a rule against cracking open a bottle of chilled white wine up there?

here here Paul!
Like yourself, when venturing out for a "proper" lunch i return more refreshed and ready for the aternoon ahead.
Will the rushed sarnie lunch ever become a thing of the past?
Food is to be enjoyed, not rushed down to get on with work.
I have the greatest respect for the French, Italians and Spanish who seem never to let anything get in the way of a long, enjoyable lunch.
