Ho ho ho....Merry Christmas!
Is this a record? An email arrived today giving top tips for office Christmas parties!
Had this been a normal year, Easter would still be ahead of us. Yet a PR agency somewhere has decided to bombard food and drink journalists such as me with twaddle about the festive season. Do these over-paid, unsavvy chancers expect any newspaper or magazine to use such rubbish?
You can try contacting me again, guys, after spring's English asparagus season has passed, after the last strawberries have been scoffed at Wimbledon, after the final chilled San Miquel has been downed during my Mallorcan summer holiday, after the baked spuds have been eaten on Bonfire Night and after the remnants of spiced pumpkin soup have slurped on Halloween.
But guess what: it's likely your email will still be deleted before it's even been read. Email's a great medium, but it doesn't half generate some junk.
Let me be the first person to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Oh, and don't forget Valentine's Day is a mere ten months away!!!
Grrrr
