Thai-m for better names

By Paul Fulford on February 13, 2008 9:07 PM |

What is it that causes so many owners of Thai restaurants to choose a name that makes a neckwear-related pun so that we have joints called Silk Thai and Beau Thai, for example?

If you're going to make a play on the word, let's have a bit of imagination! Maybe a Thai Let or perhaps a Thai Me Kangaroo Down Sport. Or, for places whose hygiene standards are less than impeccable, even a Thai And Die.

All suggestions will be gratefully received....and ignored.

Guess they can get Thai-r-some...

Hi Paul,

Perhaps it's because I used to own Beau Thai that my mind runs on similar lines.

ps. Many thanks for the review of Silk Thai. I'm glad you enjoyed the meal. Sorry about the slow start but we caught by surprise with the number of guests and were not able to get extra staff late in the day.

Hi Nigel, thanks for the comment. And thanks for a meal that I enjoyed thoroughly.
I never ate at Beau Thai, but I heard good things about it. The high standard seems to be maintained at the new place.
