Costly meals
"A different world..." tut-tutted a colleague as I said I didn't think £75 was an unreasonable price to pay for a recent meal for three.
We all have dfferent priorities when it comes to spending our money and I count eating out as one of my greatest pleasures (eating in is the other....). Others enjoy drinking, clubbing, gambling, buying clothes or watching football - all expensive pastimes.
I maintain that if you expect to eat good quality ingredients cooked by a skilled chef and served by efficient, friendly staff in pleasant surroundings, you've got to pay. Better to eat at good restaurants rarely than poor restaurants often.

£75! They must be paying you too much, mate.
Funnily enough, a lot of my colleagues say the same!
But back to one of my points: the meal worked out at £25 a head with wine. I reckon a night out drinking or clubbing would be a whole lot more. And going to a football match would certainly cost more.
Yes, but at the football you don't have to sit next to the wife for two hours.
Yes, but he does support the Blues.
I'd happily pay several hundred quid for a meal rather than go to St Andrew's.
I'd happily cook it for you rather than go to the Sty.
Ah but Birmingham's best two chefs - Luke Tipping (Simpson's) and Glynn Purnell (Purnell's) - are Bluenoses.
Someone should call health and safety!
Mind you, I suppose their food - like their football team - goes down well.
As a Blues fan I probably shouldn't say this, but working in a restaurant was the only way Luke and Glynn were likely to see any cups....
Ba dum dum tish!
