Miles Apart

By Nick Pullen on Feb 7, 08 04:56 PM

No wonder AFC Telford were looking a little travel-weary this week. Last Saturday they visited Workington Town and then made the trip to Leigh RMI on Tuesday.

Just for good measure, they face the prospect of a journey to Boston United on Saturday.

Spectacular fixture planning don't you think.

The Southern League aren't much better. Long-distance trips on Bank Holidays when clubs are crying out for local derbies. Then you can go for ages without a Saturday home fixture.

With many clubs strapped for cash, they need all the help they can get - not hindrence.

Maybe it's time for league officials to get real.

Don't miss Saturday's Argus spread. Lee Ayres is the man in the spotlight this week.

I'm sure Telford prefer to be travelling miles rather than playing in a lower league as they were after they folded a couple of years ago. If clubs are so cash strapped, maybe they should reduce the prices and pay the players less.

When are you doing a spread on Robbie Savage?
