Gordon: Prince Of Thieves
'It's understandable that people are angry'
The news today hit the streets of Britain where citizens took time out of window-shopping outside Marks and Spencer's to express outrages at the latest scandal of MPs expenses.
Not surprisingly many said that they were thinking of moving abroad.
They said that they had lost all faith in the government and, if they had the money, they would be off to make a new life in the Bahamas.
It has recently been reported that last year, nearly 50,000 Britons moved abroad, and it is said that nearly a third of people have the intention to do the same.
The amount of people wanting to become expats and swap Costa del Birmingham for somewhere more colourful is on the increase.
And there's little wonder why.
In a land where tea bags are the essential ingredient for any crisis, tutting at someone is how you express that you are absolutely livid, looking at your feet or reading a newspaper gives you the right to ignore whatever is happening in front of you, and queue-jumping is on par with treason; there are still people who can't help being a partisan and would rather stay in Britain and face the music.
Even if the music is the tinkling of your smashed car window, the screams of people running for their lives in the streets, or the sound of an MP running off with your last two pennies.
But no one actually starts the day by thinking "I'm completely happy, I have the perfect job and a huge salary. I'm moving to New Zealand."
You're more likely to say "I'm extremely unhappy. I hate my job. I have no money and there's nothing good on the telly. I'm moving to New Zealand."
Everyone's going to New Zealand. The other popular choices are Greece where they like to stand on the side of the pool and jump on your head while you're swimming, or throw a ball in your face - or to Florida where they don't swim; they shout and play volleyball.
While many Britons, especially pensioners, prepare to pick up sticks and look for warmer climates, a report from hotel-owners all over the world have said that when British people go abroad they're badly dressed - if at all, loud, untidy and binge drinkers.
Apparently, hotel managers don't appreciate it when the Brits get drunk, do the Macarena in the hotel reception at 2am, and then run off to spread chlamydia.
So that's the pensioners' retirement plans ruined.
But it's hardly surprising people are getting the urge, now more than ever, to move abroad. They're tired of crime, the weather, and the government.
There are two rules in life. Rule number 1: Never undertake Morris dancing. Rule number 2: Always show resentment towards the government.
While it's sometimes dismal to hear constant criticism of the government and of life, it's understandable that people are angry.
The government may have been glad that the swine flu issue dominated the headlines since they knew their revelation about their expenses were coming up - to take the limelight away from their spending habits and their new refurbishments.
There was a time when unjust theft would have got you a prison sentence. Today if you're an MP it gets you double glazing and a knighthood.
People have spent their lives working and saving only to be left with no savings and no pension.
Having once dreamed of world cruises with sunlight dancing over their rum punch when they retire, they'll now have to settle on Complan: shaken not stirred, and a self-catering trip to Butlins.
And the money they pay the government in taxes has gone to funding war, a new kitchen in their second homes, and a £7.4million advertising campaign showing you how to sneeze in a tissue.
So it's no surprise people want to move abroad; spend their days in the sun until their skin goes to leather. Because a nation will turn its back on a country and government, if their government has turned its back on them.

He he he !!! Always a pleasure to read! I’m off now! I can hear mps running off with my last two pennies! The best one yet! Utterly hilarious with a serious twist to garnish!
Too true!! Brilliant and hilarious! These are the best thing since sliced bread! It sounds like the pensioners would have got up to some mischief if they had the money! Lol.
Wassssssaahhhooooooo! Back in the action!!! This is too funny for words!!! And the scary part about it all is that its all true! I would go away if i had the money, but not if those wild pensioners are there! It was worth waiting 2 weeks for! I’m going to read it again now! Totally totally totally wicked man!!!
Monday night’s alive and kicking again after last week’s short recess! Truly hilarious and also very truthful. I like the way you don’t just moan like everyone else has about the expenses, youve done something different
It’s nice to have someone fighting our corner. I believe what this government has done to the people of this country is a disgrace. We pay their wages and look how they treat us, theyre thieves and they treat us a mugs, it’s an utter disgrace and a very sad thing indeed. I like the way you’ve tackled the issue and when you become prime minister you’ll definitely get my vote! I’m off to get some complain now shaken not stirred!
I like the way you don’t just moan like some of the other writers, its nice to see a little bit of comedy these days as well as a serious issue that needs to seriously be addressed. I think many people feel betrayed by the government and nit just labour either, were stuck between a rock and a hard place. Thanks once again for an ingenious summary, you always wrap it up so perfectly theres never anything else to be said. And anything else i read seems week in comparison!! Hilarious!
Too bad we live in the costa del Birmingham! It looks like were going to have to “face the music”! Very funny and actually quite a truthful and powerful ending that puts everything into perspective. And “never undertake morris dancing” is one of the many funny parts that had me in tears. Its just so out of the blue its genius!
How funny and how true!!! I think we're all mad to stay here! I think we should all leave the MPs to stay on their own and they'll have no one to pay their taxes. Its not surprising so many people are refusing to ay their taxes! Briliant article as always!
It's always good to hear someone with common sense! Everyone hates mos at the moment and they always moan about them but i like the angle you took with this article, you always do things differently than everyone else. Legendary! This is very funny and frighteningly truthful!
I would have to agree that tea bags are the essential ingredient in any crisis!!! Hiarious piece, too much to take in all at once!! Great topic as well, i like the hard hitting stuff laced with humour!
What I cannot understand is why the taxman isnt after these MPs? My husband gets small amount of expenses to cover the petrol he has to use to drive the long distances between his different offices. After a certain quite small amount he gets taxed on it even though it is only money he has spent on the petrol to do his job. It is one law for the MPs and one for us poor fools! And I used to like Hazel Blears until I found out that she is also a thieving MP! And what's worse, she rides a motor bike! Silly woman! She has sunk right dowm on my list! Great article. Everyone must read it for the humour and the truthfulness!
Who thinks its time they dissolve parliament? Apologies from the leading parliamentary figures will do little to placate the outraged tax payer. Especially when those apologies relate to 'errors and mistakes'.
Many of these claims are not errors or mistakes, they are tantamount to criminal acts intended to defraud the taxpayer and nothing less.
The public were led to believe that parliament is to be trusted to manage it's own affairs with honesty and integrity.
Every penny not claimed with 'honesty and integrity' over the term of this parliament must be re-paid voluntarily prior to the next general election if any government is to re-gain the respect of the electorate.
Those who refuse or fail to pay should be subject of the most rigorous criminal enquiry.
Thanks once again for the article. Its incredibly powerful in what it says and the comedy is second to none!
The activities of a very immoral and to the man in the street criminal and utterly dishonest bunch of thieving hounds. Anything but honourable gentleman /woman. They may bleat that their claims were within the rules, but the behaviour of these is the type of behaviour one normally associates with the lowest of the low. They should, if there were any really honesty or justice in the system, be barred fom standing for Pariament again and stripped of their obscene pensions. Make examples of some, if not all of them. Great artcle!
Too funny!!! I'm in stitches! All the mps are a disgrace they should all be sacked and put away in prison. The rules definately need to be changed and fast before another riot starts up. I dont see how they criticise people for committing benefit fraud for less that £100 per week and yet they go and rob thousands!
I think what the government have done is appauling. I think we should all refuse to pay our taxes and we'll see how they cope without their landscape gardeners and their new furniture and their jacuzzis!!!! This is a brilliant article and it is also very very very funny which adds a nice contrast to the rotten stinking mps who will find themselves on the other end of my foot if they dont sort themselves out!
Just paying back the money is not good enough, they need to be punished. Send them to jail! I'm Disgusted with the whole lot. If this happened outside Parliament, the perpetrators would go on trial and face a very stiff sentence. What gives these thieves the right to go off scott-free? Anybody can apologize, those are just words. What we now want and need is action. They must be brought before the Justices and given the same punishment as the man in the street. They have no qualifications to represent any one of us and should be sacked. Gordon Brown should be impeached as he has been there long enough to know exactly what has been going on. A Chancellor of the Exchequer who didn't know all this?? Theft and embezzlement are against the law. We don't need the evidence, it is all there so the work of the Law Courts has already been done. All we now need is the sentencing. Put them all into their Third Home...inside jail. And pay back should be normal. It would be for us all. They are only different to us in that they did it and hope to get away with it. Get them in jail!
