February 2010 Archives

CONGRATULATIONS to the following readers who have won our Wolfman competition from February 12.

We had a really bumper entry, so well done to M Delves from Erdington, S Roberts from Great Barr and M Nicklin from Droitwich Spa.

I've just written off to the distributors asking them send you their prizes out direct.

They include: a limited edition, numbered cinema poster; a bullet USB memory stick and a bullet paperweight. Oh, and a T-shirt, too. Can't be bad, eh!

Don't miss tomorrow's Birmingham Mail for another fabulous movie competition.

We'll be offering lots of you the chance to instantly win a pair of tickets to see the sensational new Swedish thriller, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (18).

The film lasts 152 minutes so it will be a great way of saving on your heating bills if nothing else.

More importantly, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo doesn't go on release till March 12, so this is a great opportunity to see it first as well as for free.

I saw the film in January and hugely enjoyed it.

Simply follow the instructions in the paper and then try to download your own ticket online. Good luck!

Based on the best-selling novels by Stieg Larsso, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is the first part of a new 'Millennium Trilogy' which will be released throughout the year.

We have 250 tickets to give away for a special screening on Monday night - a group saving for everyone of more than £1,000 on regular prices.

Like I said. Can't be bad, eh!

+ Don't forget, though that The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is an 18-rated movie. Nobody under age will be allowed in.

THE start of 2010 has been so busy, I don't know where the past few weeks have gone.

But, while I've been busy doing some extra work for our Birmingham Post sister paper, I've also had the pleasure of meeting Clint Eastwood, Matt Damon, Morgan Freeman, Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese, too.

Our 'Clint at 80' feature ran in the Mail last week along with a Matt Damon interview.

If the Post doesn't use best actor Oscar nominee Morgan Freeman's thoughts on Nelson Mandela, I'll post my interview here before next month's big Academy Awards' night.

Soon I'll be looking at life through Scorsese's eyes, too, in advance of the release of his new movie, Shutter Island, which I saw this week.

Meanwhile, a very exciting Swedish trilogy is on its way to Britain this year, with the first movie due next month.. . .
