TRANSFORM AT MIDNIGHT - OR AFTER BREAKFAST

By Graham Young on Jun 17, 09 07:39 PM

IF YOU plan to be among the first to see Michael Bay's new movie Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (12A) on the night of Thursday, June 18 don't expect to be able to sleep afterwards if you forget to take some ear plugs.

Co-starring Megan Fox, the film is 149 minutes long and as loud as hell.

Shia LaBeouf returns as Sam Witwicky - what a daft name! - who is caught in the war between the Autobots and the evil Decepticons.

With the ancient origins of the Transformers revealed thanks to a vision sent by the Allspark, Sam becomes a target for the baddies.

The Decepticons have returned to Earth under the command of the formidable Starscream.

Optimus Prime forms an alliance with international armies to help the Autobots to protect the humankind.

But which cinemas are showing it first and which one will have it last? Click here to see my exclusive guide to who's showing it when and where.

To see Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen first, head for Vue Star City where it will be on from 00.01am on Thursday night / Friday morning.

Or you could do it the easy way and see it after breakfast.

Recently refurbished at a cost of £2 million, the on the ball Odeon New Street in the heart of Birmingham city centre has it first from 10.15am on Friday morning.

Vue's first screening is at 10.30am, just like Cineworld Broad Street.

AMC Broadway Plaza and Showcases Erdington, Coventry, Dudley and Walsall don't get going till 11am.

Empire Great Park waits till 11.45am while Solihull Cineworld is surely missing a trick by not playing the film till 1pm followed by Dudley Odeon (Merry Hill) at 1.30pm.

The Sutton Coldfield Empire even more so at 1.45pm, followed by Tamworth Odeon at 2pm.

IMAX at Millennium Point has three screenings on Friday at 5pm, 8pm (sold out already) and 11pm, while the Electric Cinema on Station Street currently has no plans to show it despite having gone with Terminator Salvation right from its June 3 previews.

So, wherever you choose to see the film, enjoy the noise and extraordinary visual spectacle.

Don't forget I'll be reviewing the standard version of film in the Birmingham Mail on Friday.

Because it takes hours to make up an IMAX print and Millennium Point is getting late delivery, I'll be reporting back here on Friday night with news of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - The Imax Experience to see how it compares with watching it at the flagship Odeon Leicester Square.

On Monday in London, director Michael Bay was telling me he's very excited about the IMAX version which includes sequences shot on IMAX cameras.

Anyone who saw The Dark Knight at Millennium Point will understand what that does to a movie's sweet spots. I can't wait, can you?

Keep up to date
