FILM Channel TCM is changing its schedule to pay tribute to the late Paul Newman.

Five films will be showing back to back on Monday, October 6.

Here's its full press release which details what's happening.

The iconic star famed for his good looks and his sky blue eyes started off as a successful TV actor before he embarked on a career in film. His film debut The Silver Chalice (1954) resulted in Newman famously apologising for his performance in an ad he took out encouraging people not to go and see it. In 1956 his second screen appearance was the much acclaimed Somebody Up There Likes Me which lead him onto a string of films that saw Newman frequently nominated for his outstanding performances. Cool Hand Luke,(1967) Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1958) are just a few of the classic films from his 50 year career that will be remembered forever.  Newman finally won a Best Actor award for The Colour of Money (1986) and a BAFTA for The Hustler (1961).

Not content on just acting, Paul Newman was also a director, motor racer, entrepreneur and philanthropist, who famously donated all the income from his Newman's Own products to charity including the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, a summer camp for sick children.

Tune-in to TCM from 3pm on Monday 6th October to relive 5 great films from the iconic actor's CV.
