JAMES BOND - TIME FOR A PROPER ROYAL APPOINTMENT

By Graham Young on Oct 16, 08 11:19 PM

HAVE just seen Queen at Birmingham's NIA tonight and I thought they were sensational.

How to reinvent the drum solo, eh! Start off on the hi-hat and then have the rest of the kit built up around you bit by bit as you become ever more expansive. Well done, Roger Taylor!

But, more than that, it left me thinking... when one of our greatest rock bands is on this form, why haven't its members been writing material for the new Bond movie, Quantum of Solace?

U2 helped to reinvent the music for Goldeneye which revived the franchise more than a decade ago but too many theme tunes since haven't stood the test of time.

Me thinks Brian May and the boys could come up with something to rival Wings' Live and Let Die.

The electronic backdrop at the NIA was certainly spectacular enough and Queen's vocals would be perfect, too.

So, how about it chaps?

And, if they really don't fancy a bit of Bondage, who else ought to be considered for the next film?

It should be the most prestigious call in the movies.

In the world of secret agents and espionage, death is a very real element. This same truth applies to James Bond’s universe. Throughout the films, we see Bond as directly and indirectly responsible for the deaths of villains and henchmen of all shapes and sizes. Along the way, many of Bond’s closest allies have lost their lives, as well: Quarrel in Dr. No, Kerim Bey in From Russia With Love – the list is seemingly endless. Even Bond’s wife, Tracy, was killed by his nemesis, Blofeld, in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

Hi Bruke... er, so you think Freddie might have also died as a result of 007 being too dangerous to know? Or should Brian May run a mile now, just in case?
