NORTHFIELD ECOCENTRE
There were references to the Northfield Ecocentre in South West Birmingham, in this blog, from guest bloggers Georgia Stokes and Dave Watton, with the description: "The centre works with the community to find practical ways to live better and protect the environment."
It is time for a fuller description of the Northfield Ecocentre. I have great enthusiasm for its work. I hope that many readers will learn from the advice which is available there, and join in the wide range of activities.
I must add that I am on the management committee of the project, which is a branch of a charity on which I serve as a trustee (Central England Quakers - registered charity number 224571). This could mean that I am biased about the Ecocentre - please go there, or phone the centre, and find out for yourselves.
The Ecocentre is open to the public:
Thursdays 4 6:30pm
Fridays 10am 1pm
Saturdays 10am 1pm
The address is:
53 Church Road

The Ecocentre is behind Oulsnam Estate Agents, next to the Adult Education Centre on Church Road. There is no parking. We encourage you to walk, cycle or take public transport when you visit us. Details are on the Ecocentre website .
The next two Ecocentre events will be friendly occasions for everyone to learn and share skills and experience which will help us to reduce energy use and save money. Check the website for further details, and how to book. Book early to avoid disappointment.

This is an interestiung blog post. A similar blog post of this eco centre is also on www.birminghamrecycled.co.uk
I have not yet visited the centre myself, but public feedback has been promising. I like that young children will be taught in summer workshops. This is a good way to get them involved in the environment.
This looks to be an encouraging centre for understanding the environment, especially for the younger people who are growing up.
I have heard only good things about the Ecocentre and what they do. More recently, well done on campaigning for a 20mph speed limit in residential areas to make it safer for bikes.
Another centre worth a mention is the Wildlife Trust's Centre of the Earth in Winson Green. I know that they offer a lot of education opportunities for children and adults too.
