Rip-off Britain II
My son is getting married in Greece and was unfortunate enough to book his flights through XL - who are still trading in France and Germany by the way so it would be an interesting exercise to look at their books.
Last night he decided to play safe and book an extra luggage allowance which XL happily accepted a couple of hours before going belly up and no doubt already knowing they were unlikely to see another sunrise.
To add insult to injury the company have sent him an e-mail today confirming the extra allowance and thanking him for his custom or, in this case, his kind contribution to their secured creditors and administrators' fees. A similar email no doubt to those received by those who spent considerably more last night or in the last few days when the firm must have known is was already dead in the water.
There is probably a happy ending for some though. No doubt those running the firm, as usual, will re-emerge shortly to give some other company the benefit of their business acumen as if nothing has happened.
