Labour - Juliet's story

By Laura Yates on Jul 16, 09 09:28 PM

My name is Juliet and my husband is Stephen.

We've been together for ages and have been married for the last three years. We always said we'd never have children together because between us we had four from previous marriages. However, we changed our minds and decided to try because we weren't getting any younger!

We caught within a month of trying; I felt really ill and an early test showed a strong positive.

At seven weeks I had a big bleed and had to have a scan. We feared the worst but the midwife moved the screen towards us and said "Congratulations! You're having twins!"

We were told they were non-identical and doing really well.

At 30 weeks I was very big and suffered with spd (pelvic pain) and I stopped work at 31 weeks.

By the time I was 32 weeks one of the twins wasn't as big as they'd hoped so I went in every two days for monitoring at the hospital.

When I was 32weeks + 6, I felt tearful all day and put it down to hormones, then that night at 8.30 I felt a bit weird so my husband told me to have an early night and I'd feel better.

I walked up the stairs and within a min of trying to get on the bed my waters broke and my contractions started coming every 2 minutes!

I phoned the hospital and they told me to go straight in. We had to wait for my in laws to come over and have the other children so by the time we got to the hospital it was 9.55pm,

Mabel was born at 10.12pm weighing 3lb 15oz and Emerson at 10.20pm weighing 4lb 2 oz. I had both of them naturally with no pain relief. They went straight down to special care and stayed there for 16 days, they are now 9 months old. That is our story.

Juliet and Stephen.

I don't know how many children Juliet had had before the twins, but to go from waters breaking to birthing two babies in less than two hours is some going! Well done!
