What a Mother's Day!

By Laura Yates on Mar 22, 09 08:49 PM

I have to say that today has been lovely. I got a pile of hand made pictures and cards from The Boy and a 'hand made' card from The Kid.

Then the four of us journeyed to The Outlaw's house for lunch and some relaxing in the lovely sunshine. Thanks to my boys and Marian and Ben!

Yeah, a good day was had by all.

Alright, I might have temporarily 'mislaid' one of my children but they're all accounted for now, which is the main thing...

I was wandering around Mothercare earlier in the day looking for swimming trunks for The Kid. You see he's off swimming tomorrow and needs all the various paraphernalia. I was considering getting one of those all in one swim suits but decided against it in the end. A pair of terry lined trunks was all a child needed in my day so I decided that's what he would have.

These were the thoughts that kept me occupied as I drifted round the shop and eventually washed up at the till. I made my purchases and left.

I'd gone about three paces out of the door when a funny feeling came over me. It was like I'd lost something. I checked to make sure I hadn't left my card, keys or phone on the counter but it was all in my bag.

Then it came to me. I turned round and walked back into the shop. I saw two young shop assistants looking at me, clearly wondering why I'd suddenly decided to come back in. I explained to them quite matter-of-factly that I was pretty sure I'd had a child in tow when I'd arrived. With that I marched off to the toy section and found The Boy mooching around, totally oblivious to the fact that he'd very nearly spent mother's day being looked after by the staff in Mothercare.

I am pleased to report that I have just checked and 100% of my children made it through the day without being misplaced and are now tucked up in bed.

Happy Mother's Day One and All!
