Trip to the Flicks
OMG. How good is 'Bolt'? I'm not a movie expert or anything, but it is the best animated kids film I've seen. Bar none. I couldn't fault any of it.- perfectly put together, the storyline was great the actual animation, or cinematography or whatever you call it was amazing. It was actually beautiful to watch.
Go and see it. If you do nothing else with your kids this half term, go and see 'Bolt'. Hell, even if you haven't got kids go see it. Keep your eyes open for the pigeons. They were my favourite bit. Until I saw the hamsters which I laughed out loud at, and I seldom laugh out at any film, even if I find it really funny.
I went with The Boy and his friend. Who is a girl. Not his 'girlfriend', I must point out. I went armed with shop bought popcorn, and a couple of bags of chocs and sweets for The Boy and his pal. Unless that's illegal, in which case I definitely did not go armed with any products not purchased from the cinema itself.
I did buy one pack or chocolates and drink for myself, which amounted to the princely sum of £5.50. Incidentally this was about the price of the ticket itself. I heard that cinemas have to have ridiculously high mark-ups on foods and drinks as ticket costs only cover the costs of screening the films; no high prices on pop = no profit.
Still, is a 300% mark-up on pop-corn really justifiable? Isn't it just a little bit mental to charge so much for refreshments or is it just part and parcel of a trip to the pictures? Is taking your own snacks into the flicks frugal or just plain pikey?
I think in my case maybe it's not such a bad thing that the goodies cost so much. Had they been more affordable I might have bought even more, and that wouldn't have been good news for my weight loss attempt or my teeth, which were practically rotted down to stumps after a pot of Revels and a regular coke. Plus the coke is responsible for the fact that I'm sitting awake at this God foresaken hour writing this blog.

Surely sneaking snacks into the cinema is half the fun?
In fact, I seem to remember your mother somehow sneaking a pizza into a cinema once!
Pizza? That actually does not surprise me, knowing Laura.
But yes, shop-bought popcorn and drinks -- even bought from a petrol station! -- makes perfect business sense with current economic climate.
However, if my local cinema goes belly-up, I'm gonna tell them who the sole proprietor of their demise is. Muhaha!
PS - El Moll says hello. Well, it was more of a hissing sound. And it was to another cat. But I'm sure the thought was there.
