The Joy of Pancakes
How many pancakes did you have yesterday? I was quite reserved and only ate half my body weight. I also made the fatal mistake of not leaving the batter mix to stand for half hour first to let the gluten expand. It expanded instead inside my already bloated belly leaving me ready to pop an hour after I'd scoffed my last one.
What toppings did you try? You'd be forgiven for thinking that pancakes in the Yates' household were topped with pooh, after the week The Kid has had. But no, nothing as exciting as that. Okay, I couldn't quite bring myself to eat the ones covered in chocolate spread but managed a good many with sugar and lemon on.
The Kid had his first try of pancake, but was not allowed too much lest it set him off again and come shooting out the other end. The Boy put an impressive amount away as usual which kept him so full he didn't want breaky this morning. At least I hope that's why he didn't want breakfast, and he hasn't got the beginnings of this wretched bug. The Other Half didn't risk any pancake - this at least gives us a good reason to have another pancake day next week. (Any excuse!!)
The enormous amount of pancakes I scoffed will not do me any favours when it comes to weigh in at Fat Club this week. I may wag it. I have been dodging Fat Club for the last few weeks now. I am too scared to go and be humiliated as I have also been dodging salads and anything that hasn't been deep fried.
Oh well, at least I've had a feast before lent. Actually if my Lenten fast is anything like my New Years' Resolutions I'll have failed by tomorrow lunchtime..
