Snowdays are the worst days!

By Laura Yates on Feb 4, 09 08:52 PM

I've changed my mind. I've had enough of this now. I'm fed up with the snow. One day was alright but I'm not impressed with this.

The weather is not bad enough for all schools to be closed but it is serious enough to mean that all the local side roads become icey death-traps.

What's the council playing at? Don't they know I've got to go to work tomorrow? Hmm? My road never gets gritted. In order to avoid being stranded I've had to park a five minute walk away. I'm going to have to get up at stupid o'clock and journey up the treacherous hill. It's going to be a right nightmare with a pushchair in tow, plus a Boy who will still be disgruntled at having to be dragged out of bed when he was fully expecting another snow day.

Where are the gritters, eh? Surely as a country we should be better prepared than this? Surely all it would take is a sprinkling down the road to stave off the worst of the frost.

And this is all presuming that The Boy will even be at school tomorrow. I'll have to wait till 7am tomorrow morning to find out whether alternative childcare arrangements will have to be made. How can anyone plan for this? The main roads will be relatively clear - what's the problem with kids going to school anyway? It's not like they've got to conquer ten foot snow drifts just to get into the classroom, is it?

Poor The Kid can't seem to get taken out for longer than five seconds without his poor little face looking like a frost-bitten beetroot. I'm thinking that perhaps he is not developing eczema, just a case of dry skin in harsh weather conditions.

My heating seems to be permanently on. My house alone is going to be responsible for a carbon footprint the size of the Grand Canyon.

Yes. Snowdays are not the best afterall. They are an irritating and inconvenient pain in the neck.

My how the tables have turned.

Dont be so grumpy, snow days are great!

We only get one or two a year and they are great fun!

Everywhere looks so nice and you get to make a snow-person (being pc there), whats there not to like?
