Proud Mom Moment
Every now and again children say the most beautiful things from completely out of the blue. Sometimes they are so profound that it changes the way we see them.
Yesterday The Boy was talking about what he wanted to do when he's grown up.
"I've decided what I'm going to do. First I'm going to get a big house.."
"Well that sounds nice."
"Yeah, then I'm going to get a load of children, all different colours, yeah.."
"Okay"
"Children who live in places like the Dumping Ground." (That's the care home in Tracey Beaker)
"Right.."
"Yeah, then I'll have them all to live with me."
"That's really thoughtful of you Boy, what made you think of that?"
"Well you know the Olympics?"
"Yes, I know the Olympics."
"Well, when you win the Olympics, it feels really good, yeah, the best ever."
"I suppose it would feel pretty good, yes.."
"Yeah, well, to those children, getting a home would feel to them the same as winning the Olympics. It would feel the best ever to them. I want to make people feel that good."
If an eight year old can have such a desire to change the world, maybe there is hope for the rest of us.
As yet I've been unable to change the fact that I've a plump Kid attached to me at 6am most mornings, let alone change the world. Tomorrow we're planning to give him a bottle of milk when he wakes at 5.30am, although that's a habit I'm not sure I want to get into either.
Perhaps I'll take my mate Laura's advice; just go with the flow and just carry on breastfeeding him and don't worry that I should stop just because he's 15 months old. Hmm.. well, anyone called Laura must know what they're talking about.
I'll see how I feel at 5.30.
