No such thing as five minutes peace..

By Laura Yates on Jan 11, 09 10:22 AM
I thought it was too good to be true. I was sitting drinking my tea this morning when it dawned on me that The Kid had been unusually quiet for at least five minutes.

He was sat behind his Little People Castle near a rather large houseplant. I went and peered over to find him happily eating soil out of the plant pot, spooning moist mouthfuls of mud using my favourite Sex & the City Pen. He grinned a soily grin at me when he realised he'd been caught and quickly shovelled an extra penful in just before I had chance to sweep him up away from it.

Don't worry - I'm sure no long term damage has been done. Actually I doubt he actually swallowed much at all, and there's nothing in the soil that could do any harm, he might just have nice glossy foliage for a week or so.

I don't know. I spend all this time lovingly preparing all sorts of delicacies for him when he'd be just as happy to eat his way through piles of compost.

Perhaps I could use this as a way of getting rid of that last, early morning breastfeed? I shall just leave a nice Bizzie Lizzie or Coleus within reach of his cot and leave him to look after himself.

Sigh.
