MMR: Oh, right... 7 - 10 days.

By Laura Yates on Jan 4, 09 03:12 PM

I take it back. The nurses did know what they were on about when they said The Kid would be ill about a week after his jabs. Exactly seven days afterwards he became hot, blotchy and miserable. This lasted for three days and nights; New Years Eve, New Years Day and the day after.

Throughout the night, every hour on the hour he was awake and screaming. He was even taken for a drive in the car to settle him, something which hasn't happened for a long while.

I also fell very quickly back into the habit of breastfeeding him to try and settle him each time he woke. I think that will go down in history as one of the daftest things that I've ever done.

Seriously, feeding a kid with enough teeth to chew steak seems somehow wrong. I will stop. I WILL stop tomorrow, no, TONIGHT. That's it. I don't care how tired I am in the night, or in the morning. I'm not going to feed him.

What do parents do who aren't still feeding 15 month old kids, hmm? Exactly. They don't die of sleep deprivation. I shall be strong. Tonight is the test. I shall let you know how it went tomorrow.
