MMR Finally Done
7 - 10 days my backside. I was told that children usually don't suffer after they have their MMR jab for at least a week. It took the Kid a few hours before he got a high temperature and started to be a bit grumpy.
9am Had jab
12pm Went to sleep
2pm Woke up (very unusual to sleep for so long)
2 - 3pm Grumpy, temp, wouldn't be put down, didn't want to play with anyone who came to the party.
3pm Gave him some Calpol - much better. (I'm thinking now I should have pre-empted the temperature and given him Calpol just after the jab, rather than waiting)
7.30pm Went to bed as usual. Woke three or four times through the night. Had to use Calpol to control temp.
The one thing I am glad about is that I asked not to have the other injection he was supposed to have done at the same time. I suspect he may have been much worse; I feel that being vaccinated for so many things in one go is such a lot to bombard someone with. It's his Christmas too and it's important that he has fun and not be lying down feeling ill.
To be honest I don't think he was back to his old self till about 1 o' clock on Christmas day. He was quite subdued till then and didn't perk up till after a walk in the pushchair and a load of Christmas dinner.
Have to say I'm SO glad it's done though. I can finally stop worrying so much about the local measels outbreak that the vaccination nurses kept telling me about.
Looking forward to the next lot in a few weeks time!
