If the shoe fits, why won't he wear it?
Why won't he keep his shoes on? Why, why, why does The Kid insist on removing his shoes and socks whilst trundling along in the pushchair?
Short of taking him to the local blacksmith to have him shod, there's not a fat lot I can do.
Permanently welding shoes onto a toddler's feet might be taking things a baby-step too far, but it's the only thing that springs to mind as we hurry along to get The Boy to school first thing on a cold autumnal morning.
He cheerfully waves his socks to every person we pass, and jiggles his pudgy toes that glow pink in the frosty air.
"You won't find it so funny when they've gone black and dropped off", I mutter as I stop to play the hilarious game of 'I put one on, you take one off'.
Wouldn't be so bad if I could see other tots about to be stricken with frostbite, but no. Every little one I see is happily leaving their hat on, wearing gloves with all the fingers in the right place and I should imagine, also wearing socks and shoes. I wouldn't know that though because their feet are covered by the blankets they're not kicking furiously away at, in an effort to drop them on the floor.
Ho hum, I sigh. At least it will be welly weather soon - these won't be quite so easy for little mitten clad hands to haul off and jettison as we're going along.

Sounds very familiar. A coach load of American tourists passed us once, nearly all of them commenting on the absence of our son's socks. He had removed them(again) and we had given up putting them back on (short of super glueing them on they were not staying on). There were so many shocked faces and comments it took all my reserve to avoid sticking his socks somewhere.......
However, a year on the little blighter now keeps his shoes and socks on (mostly) but the bad news is the wellies come off easily........
Dam! I was relying on the wellies! Sellotape it is then!
