Great Time at Great Park

By Laura Yates on Nov 1, 08 10:05 PM

Today we found a lovely family pub that we've not been to before. It's called The Great Park, which is (funnily enough) in Great Park, Rubery. It had a brilliant (and fully supervised) Funky Forest, much better than other tired alternatives attached to some places at the moment.

The Funky Forest had no 'soft play' area, so was not suitable for younger children to be left unattended, but The Boy loved it. High ceilings covered tall platforms, bridges, huge tube slides and acres of climbing nets. It was great for older kids.

The Kid enjoyed the day out too, but as far as he was concerned it wouldn't have made any difference where he was - give him a some juice, an onion ring to throw on the floor and some crayons to ram in his mouth and he's well away.

Before he was handed his dinner, I particularly enjoyed watching how he took the cards given to him to colour in, studied them thoughtfully before strategically moving his arm like the neck of a crane over the edge of his tray, then oh so slowly, dropping each and every one.

All in all a grand time was had by everyone, and it would have been grander had it not been a Saturday because we'd have qualified for their 'two mains for £9' deal. Oh well, you live and learn, not that that would put me off going again on a weekend.

For a fuller review of the food you'd have to ask Paul Fulford, but as far as a decent lunch for the family goes, I couldn't fault it.
